Stars and Stripes: The Story of Betsy Ross

Five-pointed stars from heaven.

Red stripes that numbered seven.

White stripes that number six.

Thirteen colonies to affix.

Stitch of thread and of time,

Sew together brave paradigm.

Then fifty stars for fifty states,

Stars on top of White House gates.

Raise the American flag to fly high.

Soar across the blue and white sky.

Don’t let the flag touch the ground,

Or ever hang it upside down.

The flag likes to wave its hand.

All across this beautiful land.
