PRISCILLA TRUMBLE AND DREAMS OR DUST synopsis (THE WHIRLWIND CHRONICLES Part Three)

LOGLINE

Ten-year-old Priscilla learns that only those who dare both to dream and to act can save the day.

PITCH

In “Dreams or Dust,” 10-year-old Priscilla and friends must restore The Whirlwind that creates dreams in Visus. Riding Wheels of Fire to the Valley of Decision, Priscilla uses magic songs to defeat mythic creatures and win the Golden Bowl. Countess T’zila steals the Bowl, and Priscilla battles to T’zila’s (supposed) death. Back in Visus, a traitor throws Priscilla into the Inner Chamber to die with The Whirlwind. Still alive, T’zila attacks Priscilla, who wrestles both her and The Whirlwind. It turns T’zila into dust, but Priscilla survives because she sings its song and secures dreaming in Visus. Plus—Priscilla becomes the Queen of Zur.

SYNOPSIS 

After an earthquake devised by the evil Countess, 10-year-old Priscilla and her friends must help restore The Whirlwind that creates dreams in Visus.

The Whirlwind once churned around a Silver Cord hung over a Golden Bowl in The Beyond, guarded by The Whirling Wheels of Fire. The Wheels appear and the children ride off to the Valley of Decision, where they are separated. Priscilla uses a magic riddle book to control the elements and battles mythic creatures with song. Victorious, she is awarded the Silver Cord and Golden Bowl.

Countess T’zila steals the Bowl and seizes Priscilla’s friends. Priscilla chases after them to the Goblin Forest, battles to T’zila’s (supposed) death, and rescues her friends and the Golden Bowl. But back in Visus, a traitor from the Council kills Priscilla’s mentor Rafael, who gave his life to protect her and all dreams everywhere. The traitor kidnaps Priscilla and throws her in the Inner Chamber to die with The Whirlwind that destroys anyone not on the Council.

T’zila, still quite alive, again attacks Priscilla. The heroine wrestles with T’zila and with The Whirlwind until it receives its song back. The Whirlwind destroys T’zila and turns her into dust. Priscilla survives because she sings The Whirlwind’s song and secures dreaming in Visus. She then learns that the ruler of Zur has died of old age—Priscilla is now the Queen of Zur.
